When do the Awards open for entry?

You must submit your entries by midnight on Friday 12 January 2018

What are the Red Rose Award's categories?

A full list of award categories are available on the categories page.

How many categories can I enter?

Each business can enter up to four different award categories.

What makes a company eligible to enter the awards?

To be eligible, your business must be based within the current Lancashire county boundaries. For clarity, this means you must pay business rates in one of the following district or unitary boroughs:

  • Blackburn with Darwen
  • Blackpool
  • Burnley
  • Chorley
  • Fylde
  • Hyndburn
  • Lancaster
  • Pendle
  • Preston
  • Ribble Valley
  • Rossendale
  • South Ribble
  • West Lancashire
  • Wyre
What are the Red Rose Award rules?

The following rules apply –

  • The organisers reserve the right to amend or remove award categories
  • The organisers reserve the right to re-assign an entry to another category
  • Entrants acknowledge and agree that material from entry forms may be used in the event brochure and other marketing materials
  • Entrants should mark as confidential any elements of their entry they do not wish to be used for the event brochure or other marketing materials
  • Decisions of judges are final.
How do I enter the Awards?

To enter the awards, you must create an online account. This will allow you to view all award categories and entry forms. You can work sign in and out of the system to work on your entry form and save it as a draft until you're ready to submit.

You can enter the awards between 8 November 2017 and midnight on Friday 12 January 2018

What is the best way to enter the Awards?

We suggest you register an account so you can view the entry forms for the categories you wish to enter.

You can work on your entry in our online system by signing in and out and saving your entry as draft.

When you're ready to enter, simply click submit to send us your form.

Do I have to stick to the word count limits?

Yes. You will be unable to exceed the word count limit when you enter your submission into our online entry forms.

What help is available when entering the Awards?

Throughout the entry form you will see an ‘info’ icon next to certain questions. Here we’ve included further information to support you in completing your entry so make sure you hover over the icon to view this.

What happens when I submit by entry?

The online system will show that you have entered the awards once you click submit. You will also receive a confirmation email.

Provisionally mark out February 7 and 8 on your calendar as this is when the judging will take place should you be named a finalist.

Do I have to pay to enter the Awards?

No. The Red Rose Awards are free to enter.

When does the Award Judging take place?

Once entries have closed, all written submissions are scrutinised by our judges and finalists are announced on Monday 29 January 2018.

Interviews will take place on the 7 and 8 of February 2018 - These dates cannot be changed, so add them to your diary now!

What format does the interview take?

Each interview will last 20 minutes. Following a brief introduction you will have a maximum of 10 minutes for your presentation to the judges, followed by 10 minutes of Q&A from the judges.

When will the finalists be announced?

All finalists will be notified on Monday 29 January 2018 by email.

The information will also be available on the website and through our social media channels.

Finalists will be invited to meet a judging panel for interview on February the 7 or 8. These dates cannot be changed.

Who will be on the judging panel?

The Red Rose Awards are judged by panels made up of independent business experts and sponsors.

We do not advise judge names ahead of the interviews.

What format does the interview take?

What can I bring to my interview?

This is up to you!

You can bring with you any materials you feel support your entry. However, the main purpose of the interview is for the judges to hear your business story and why you should win!

We don't supply any technical support for interviews so please also bring with you items should as laptops, screens etc.

Please note our schedule doesn't allow for any set-up required - you must incorporate this in to your ten minute presentation.

How many judges will be present?

Each panel will be made up of 3 or 4 judges.

What should I present in the interview?

The interview is your chance to bring your written entry to life and show why your business should be a Red Rose Award winner!

You can do this any way you choose whether it's verbal, through use of materials or a digital presentation. Or something else!

Please note - we don't supply AV equipment - you must bring this with you and be ready upon entry to the interview room.

As the interview time is limited we do recommend you time your presentation as the judges will stop you after 10 minutes.

How do I know when my interview is scheduled?

The main contact on the entry form will receive an email with the interview time.

If you are a finalist in more than one category, you will be given separate interview times to attend. Each category is judged by different panels and where possible we will try to plan these close together, but cannot guarantee. We also can't change interview times, or dates.

This will also be available on the website.

 

What happens if I cannot attend my interview?

You will not be excluded from the awards if you cannot attend your interview. We can offer a telephone interview as an alternative at your allotted time.

Unfortunately, we cannot change interview times.

What happens after the interview?

The winners will be announced at the Red Rose Awards on 8 March at Winter Gardens, Blackpool.

All finalists will be contacted about tickets / tables for the big night directly - we ensure that all finalists are able to access this before going on general sale.

When and where do the awards take place?

The awards take place on Thursday 8 March 2018 at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.

Do I receive a ticket to attend the awards if I am a finalist?

All finalists must purchase tickets to attend the awards.

Once finalists are announced, you have priority booking on tickets or tables before the awards go on general sale.

You will receive an email with a link to book and a deadline so that you don't miss out!

Will I receive tickets to bring on the night?

No.

Red Rose Awards is a non-ticketed event. Once you arrive at the event please view the table plan to find out where you are sitting.

What's on the menu?

The menu will be released in February 2018 on the 'The Event' page of the website.

All guests will also be sent the menu and a link for guest information where you can advise any dietary requirements.

Can I pre-order wine?

Yes. This will be available in February 2018 under 'the event' page on the website.
